Client Alert: The New ISO Net-Zero Standard

A new, Net-Zero standard for carbon emissions will be published by the end of 2025 by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the global authority for organizational management, manufacturing quality, and technology standards. The forthcoming ISO Net-Zero standard has been under development by ISO, based on guidelines ISO released in 2022 during the COP27 Summit in Egypt, attended by KERAMIDA.

According to Noelia Garcia Nebra, ISO’s Head of Sustainability, ISO’s development of the Net-Zero Standard is based on the global need to get countries, cities, and organizations to get credible GHG emissions reduction targets that can be validated on an ongoing basis.

The anticipated ISO Net-Zero standard is expected to have a significant impact on Decarbonization strategies, especially following the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) overhaul of its SBTi Corporate Net-Zero Standard coming out December 2024.
