FERC Makes Dramatic Changes to Long-Term Planning with Historic Transmission Rule
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has made dramatic changes to long-term planning requirements for interstate electricity transmission. Specifically, FERC introduced a rule that requires transmission providers conduct long-term planning and introduce plans for payment of regional transmission facilities. The rule further mandates the adoption of a twenty-year outlook by the transmission providers to anticipate future needs.
