Employee Volunteer Event for Clay Middle School
This summer, KERAMIDA helped Clay Middle School improve their Weaver Woods – an area that is used for environmental education. The school’s science department uses the pond to teach about ecology, water quality, and all things nature related. However, both students and teachers were frustrated with the poor access to the pond, which made it difficult to get samples and look in the water.
KERAMIDA completed a two phase project to install a deck that hangs over the pond. The first phase of the project involved building the foundation for a platform along the edge of the pond. The second phase was constructing the deck itself. Now the students can see the frogs, ducks, and dragonflies that we saw during the construction and not just cattails from the gravel path!
The project was completed by KERAMIDA staff and Clay Middle School students - who happen to also be KERAMIDA kids! A big thank you to Susan Grady for the design, Brian Harrington and Mike Devir for very diplomatic construction management, and the tireless crew – Nathaniel Cullen, Sara Guss, Rowan Mitton, Kathy Moore, Shane Moore, Tanner Moore, Jay Nickel, Kristen Belcredi, and Francesca Belcredi.
