Dr. Chung leads KERAMIDA’s Sustainability division, working with clients in various sectors throughout the U.S. and abroad. Dr. Chung’s primary focus is to aid organizations in being more sustainable and to better position themselves to satisfy the growing need of ESG requirements. Dr. Chung assists companies in projects related to GHG emissions quantification, GHG verification, GHG target setting, Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs), and the development and implementation of decarbonization strategies.
Dr. Chung serves a variety of clients such as privately-owned companies who are looking to develop their initial ESG plan or to add to their ESG program through net-zero or decarbonization plans or through the implementation of science-based targets. Dr. Chung works with many start-up companies who look to the effectiveness of LCAs to show the sustainability benefits of their innovative product line. Dr. Chung also works with large investor organizations to provide a variety of services on the ESG spectrum to their portfolio companies. Through Dr. Chung’s experience as a chemical engineer with a focus on combustion kinetics, he is uniquely qualified to service the ESG needs of large, global manufacturing companies and has recent experience in GHG reduction strategy evaluation for clients in cement manufacturing, building material manufacturing, and medical waste incineration.
Prior to joining KERAMIDA, Dr. Chung was heavily involved in compliance-driven GHG emissions inventory management and verification as part of the California Cap and Trade Program and relies on his compliance expertise when implementing ESG strategy related to the quantification and reduction of GHG emissions.
Dr. Chung has a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, two M.S. degrees in Chemical and Environmental Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). He is a registered Professional Engineer and an accredited ARB Greenhouse Gas Lead Verifier for both the mandatory reporting rule and the low carbon fuel standard (LCFS). Dr. Chung is based out of KERAMIDA’s Los Angeles office.
