Stormwater Consulting Services for California
Qualified Industrial Stormwater Practitioners (QISPs)
KERAMIDA specializes in technical knowledge of the requirements for stormwater discharges from industrial sites. In 2014, the California Industrial General Permit (IGP) created the role of Qualified Industrial Storm Water Practitioner (QISP), and requires facilities falling under Level 1 or Level 2 status to designate a QISP to assist them in their permit requirements. Specifically, QISPs are required by the Stormwater General Permit, to assist with industrial compliance activities.
What is a QISP?
A QISP is an expert who has taken and passed a California State Water Board approved training course. In the entire state of California, there are only 1,200 specialists qualified as QISPs. KERAMIDA is proud to have in-house QISP-certified specialists at our California offices.
Why Choose KERAMIDA?
KERAMIDA’s QISPs are specially trained in California’s Industrial General Permit, or IGP, and how facilities attain compliance under the Clean Water Act. We specialize in understanding California’s permit requirements, determining facility discharge locations, and evaluating potential pollutant sources. We also have experience in understanding site stormwater discharge requirements for specific water bodies receiving a discharge from a facility.
By providing technical knowledge of state and federal requirements, KERAMIDA is the client’s source for facility compliance. In addition to identifying on-site compliance requirements, we also assist clients with data quality, annual reporting documents, and sampling requirements. Our professionals also provide expert advice on choosing proven stormwater treatment technologies to remove facility-specific pollutants without causing disruptions to facility operations.
KERAMIDA’s QISPs:
Construction General Permit Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD)
California’s Construction General Permit requires that practitioners and developers of SWPPPs demonstrate the appropriate qualifications to conduct this work. KERAMIDA’s QSDs have a fundamental knowledge of erosion and sediment control and other construction site pollutants to implement the corrective actions necessary to protect Waters of the United States.
Metals Industry Stormwater Consultants
As a long-time member of the California Metals Coalition (CMC) and an industry leader in stormwater compliance, KERAMIDA is a trusted consultant to numerous metals industry clients.
We have expertise in industrial stormwater pollutant sources, best management practices, and California stormwater regulations. Further, we have seven Qualified Industrial Storm Water Practitioners (QISPs), which are required for all Level 1 and Level 2 sites. KERAMIDA’s QISPs prepare site demonstrations and determinations, and assist with overall facility compliance.
Our experienced stormwater consultants help clients throughout the metals industries to maintain overall compliance with the California IGP regulation, which lessens the need for retrofits, reduces violation penalties, and decreases facility closure due to inadequate reporting of discharges that contribute to water impairment. Permitted facilities are responsible for knowing what is permissible for release under the permit, including sampling, reporting, and data keeping requirements. KERAMIDA’s technical expertise in stormwater management helps ensure industry compliance with the IGP stormwater requirements.
What makes our California environmental consultants the best stormwater specialists in the metals industry?
Our California professionals have stormwater compliance expertise, vast metals industry experience, and provide expert technical support.
Under the leadership of Vice President Ronald Hayes and Sr. Project Manager Jodie Crandell, KERAMIDA’s professionals exemplify a high level of industrial stormwater compliance and training experience. Mr. Hayes and Ms. Crandell have over 60 years of combined industry experience, making KERAMIDA the clear choice for companies looking for a proven team of stormwater consultants. KERAMIDA's Kelly Hansen and Lauren Wallace are highly competent in using the California Water Board’s web based portal, called the Storm Water Multiple Application and Tracking System, or SMARTS. This portal can be very difficult to navigate and their assistance is regarded as one of the most important and useful benefits by our clients.

KERAMIDA has 3 Independent Accredited Auditors for California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance (CSWA) who provide auditing services for the CERTIFIED SUSTAINABLE program across the entire state of California. CERTIFIED SUSTAINABLE is a certification program that provides verification by a third-party auditor that a winery or vineyard implements sustainable practices and continuous improvement.
Stormwater Services for California Wineries
KERAMIDA offers a suite of stormwater compliance and permitting services that specifically meet the needs of the California Winery Industry.
KERAMIDA's Sacramento and L.A. offices provide specialized stormwater compliance and permitting services for wineries in California. The California IGP requires wineries to have an industrial stormwater permit, file a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), test stormwater for pollutants, and more.

Related Projects:
KERAMIDA was contracted by the California State Auditor’s Office to provide expertise on sustainability planning and policy development for infrastructure projects in support of the State Auditor’s audit of the efficiency and efficacy of the policies and practices employed by the California High Speed Rail Authority, which is currently constructing the largest infrastructure project in the U.S.
KERAMIDA was retained by a stamping plant in the Los Angeles industrial area to assist with its stormwater compliance program in order to comply with California’s Industrial General Permit (IGP). KERAMIDA collaborated with the facility to determine which Best Management Practices (BMPs) would be most cost-efficient and effective at reducing impacts to industrial stormwater runoff.
