Climate Action Roadmap for City of Norwalk, Connecticut
Project Details:
KERAMIDA, in partnership with SLR Consulting, is working with the City of Norwalk, Connecticut, to deliver a pragmatic, actionable Sustainability and Resilience Plan that will directly improve the City's administrative capacity to mitigate emissions and adapt to a changing climate. This project uniquely focuses on building municipal engagement and capacity by working across departments on implementation workshops, training, and integration into the existing workflow.
Elements of this project include:
Gap Analysis
Developing Municipal Actions
Community Engagement
Implementation Workshops
Sustainability and Climate Action Roadmap
KERAMIDA completed the data collection and review phase, which involved reviewing all city plans and documents related to the project, then participated in the Municipal Stakeholder Kick-off Meetings and Stakeholder Focus Group Meetings working with over 30 staff and community leaders in Norwalk to discuss wins, challenges, and strategies to overcome barriers. KERAMIDA also assisted with a Gap Analysis report in which gaps in administrative structures and processes were identified across Norwalk's projects and plans. The project team has additionally conducted a review of Norwalk's Zoning Regulations to address climate resilience and sustainability practices.
KERAMIDA incorporated Norwalk's Resiliency Plan action items related to greenhouse gas reductions into the ClimateView platform, demonstrating that the city's proposed actions would result in a 28% reduction in emissions by 2050. In the next project phases, KERAMIDA will present the final ClimateView dashboard to the Norwalk Redevelopment Agency.
