Modeling landfill gas generation without all crucial data would significantly detract from the accuracy of the model results. In order to create the most accurate model of landfill gas generation over time, KERAMIDA solicited information from the landfill regarding:
Years of operation and projected life
Historical disposal rates and composition of waste
Estimates of future disposal rates and waste composition
Dimensions of vertical and horizontal overfill
Landfill construction and operation
KERAMIDA used the LFGcost-Web Model, created by the U.S. EPA Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP), to model landfill methane gas generation and payback of multiple methane use options, including boiler retrofit, standard reciprocating engine generator (RICE), microturbine generator, and small RICE.
