AgBiTech is a global leader in agriculture technology focusing on science-based biological insect protection. Their cutting-edge, reliable, and environmentally safe pest management solutions make farming more profitable and sustainable. AgBiTech products are now used by farmers covering over 3 million hectares around the world, in Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Australia.
AgBiTech hired KERAMIDA to quantify the greenhouse gas (GHG) benefits of AgBiTech products relative to conventional chemical-based insecticides. A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for AgBiTech products accounted for emissions from raw material production, electricity, and water usage during manufacturing, wastewater treatment, and transportation.
Achievements: Additional 35% GHG Emissions Reduction
Through the LCA and a peer review, KERAMIDA concluded that AgBiTech products produce up to 51% less GHG emissions from cradle to customer perspective than peer products.
During the study, KERAMIDA identified ways to further reduce GHG emissions by implementing a production tray recycling program. As a result of this recycling program, AgBiTech was able to reduce its GHG emissions by 35%.
