Naperville 203 School District Climate Action Plan

KERAMIDA believes that education is a civic pursuit that is necessary for a successful society. Our Livable Cities team has entered a partnership with the Naperville 203 School District in Naperville, Illinois, to develop a Climate Action Plan for the district.
GHG Inventory
KERAMIDA is conducting a Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas inventory for the 2018, 2022, and 2023 school years to get a baseline for the district’s emission reduction potential. These inventories are presented in a KERAMIDA-curated dashboard that will allow staff to engage with the inventory across select features, interfaces, and functionalities. The dashboard also captures the sustainable measures that the district has already implemented and their impact on the 2023 GHG inventory.
Climate Action Plan
Upon the start of the 2024-2025 school year, KERAMIDA will work with the Naperville 203 administration, teachers, staff, and students to develop a Climate Action Plan. The team will spend the remainder of 2024 developing reduction targets, identifying carbon reduction actions and modeling reductions, and creating a strategy roadmap. All these elements will make up the Naperville 203 District Climate Action Plan.
KERAMIDA will also have the pleasure of working with the schools to identify opportunities to integrate the Climate Action Plan into the curriculum as an experiential learning opportunity. This will provide an educational opportunity for students while advancing the overall sustainability goals of the District.
