Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG Emissions Inventory and ESG Support for Masonite

Project Details:

KERAMIDA has been supporting Masonite, one of the leading U.S. manufacturers of interior and exterior doors for residential and architectural use, in the Company’s sustainability journey since 2021 through a variety of sustainability activities.

Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG Inventory

Our tasks have included data process improvement and calculation for Masonite’s Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG inventory. Our team developed a custom data retrieval method for all of Masonite’s locations in order to streamline the collection of GHG emissions data for input into the calculation model that KERAMIDA created.

GHG Reduction Strategies

KERAMIDA’s experience as a GHG auditor helps ensure that Masonite passes annual verification by a separate third-party auditor. As part of this support, KERAMIDA evaluated GHG reduction opportunities for Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions, including strategies such as off-site and on-site renewable energy acquisition and desktop audits to determine potential energy reduction activities at their manufacturing facilities.

Climate Risk Assessments

KERAMIDA also conducted climate risk assessments focused on the availability of certain species of wood in sensitive areas within Masonite's supply chain. The studies showed the movement of these species in response to future global warming scenarios. This provided Masonite insight into future supply chain limitations as a result of climate change.

Corporate Sustainability Report

KERAMIDA also assisted in Masonite's companywide Corporate Sustainability Report, including on-call support, data review, and indices review (GRI, SASB, TCFD). KERAMIDA conducted a variety of stakeholder interviews to understand and communicate various sustainability initiatives and programs conducted at Masonite for inclusion in their annual report.

CDP Disclosure Support

KERAMIDA also provided annual CDP support for Masonite through CDP mock scoring and grade improvement recommendations. KERAMIDA critically reviewed Masonite’s CDP disclosure, tested the responses against CDP's scoring criteria, and provided feedback to Masonite for potential revisions.
