Scope 1 & 2 GHG Inventory for Group 1 Automotive

Group 1 Automotive is a publicly traded, international Fortune 300 company that operates automotive dealerships and collision centers in the United States and the United Kingdom.
KERAMIDA calculated the first-ever Scope 1 and 2 GHG Inventory for Group 1 Automotive. The boundary for evaluation was 129 US sites and 99 UK sites which include a variety of auto dealerships, garages, and distribution centers.
KERAMIDA’s team began the project by conducting a round of interviews to understand data collection procedures and to develop a plan to assist Group 1 in obtaining data necessary for the calculation of Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions. KERAMIDA was provided direct access to Group 1’s data system to obtain natural gas and electricity data for all sites. Fuel data for Group 1’s mobile sales inventory was also collected for evaluation.
After data was collected and organized for emission calculations, KERAMIDA performed a variety of data analytics to determine outliers and trends through the use of tools such as Power Query and Power BI. Once data issues were addressed or resolved, KERAMIDA presented the emission calculations to Group 1 for inclusion in their annual Corporate Sustainability Report.
