Turnkey Decommissioning, Demolition and Rebuild Services for Industrial Sterilization Company
Overview:
KERAMIDA served as the general contractor to provide decommissioning, demolition and rebuild services to a confidential client that specializes in industrial sterilization solutions for medical, pharmaceutical, commercial, and food industries. The work was conducted in order to return the building to the original basic configuration prior to improvements made throughout the term of the lease. The work included both interior and exterior demolition as well as rebuild activities to return the structure to an empty warehouse.
Project Details:
KERAMIDA provided the following as part of the turnkey project:
Obtained all permits for the work
Conducted an asbestos inspection and performed a hazardous materials inspection
Prepared a demolition work plan and removed all hazardous materials prior to demolition activities
Decommissioned, demolished and removed all process equipment
Demolished interior build outs, including removal of bollards, equipment, process piping, HVAC piping, electrical, & structures
Removed subsurface process piping and reinstalled concrete floor, including backfill and compaction testing
Conducted sampling and analysis of backfill material and topsoil
Repaired concrete floors throughout and structural supports
Installed new lights and exit lights throughout the facility in accordance with applicable codes
Installed new fire alarms, pull stations, and strobe lights in accordance with applicable codes
Installed new electrical conduit
Painted the facility upon completion of demolition work
Demolished exterior build outs, including the removal of equipment, structures, and foundations
Removed impacted soil
Repaired windows, cut openings for installation of 3 new windows
Removed epoxy coated and painted brick, installed new bricks in the outside wall
Modified fire suppression system to bring it in compliance with code
Installed new asphalt
Repaired stormwater drain and asphalt
Made various repairs to exterior walls and overhead doors
Prepared a summary and documentation of the demolition, waste handling, and final disposition of materials/wastes
Recycled scrap for revenue sharing with client
Completed permit close out and developed as-built drawings
