Climate Pollution Reduction Grant Update for West Michigan

From Planning to Progress: Advancing West Michigan’s Climate Goals

KERAMIDA has partnered with the Grand Valley Metropolitan Council (GVMC) of West Michigan to develop and submit the Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP) to the US EPA earlier this year.

The PCAP, funded by the US EPA’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG), sets the foundation for a comprehensive, regional strategy, connecting state, regional, and local efforts while focusing on equity and the unique climate needs of Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, and Ottawa Counties.

Following a series of productive public outreach meetings, our technical working groups and project team have since been strategizing to identify locally desirable, applicable, and appropriate greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction measures, setting targets, and developing actionable steps to help the region achieve its climate goals.

Looking ahead in developing the second phase of the CPRG grant, KERAMIDA and GVMC are continuing their collaboration on the Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP), scheduled for submission to the US EPA in 2025. This plan will serve as a detailed roadmap for GHG reduction measures, workforce planning, and community benefits, ensuring a sustainable and inclusive future for the region.

Keep an eye out for opportunities to engage in 2025, including the launch of our Community Ambassador Program, which will amplify community voices in the plan.
