GVMC CCAP Stakeholder Engagement Advances the West Michigan Healthy Climate Plan

In January 2025, the GVMC CPRG Working Groups convened to advance the development of the Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP) as part of the U.S. EPA’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) Program.

This initiative, supported by a $1 million planning grant, is a collaboration between GVMC and KERAMIDA to develop the West Michigan Healthy Climate Plan, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, and Ottawa Counties.

The CCAP builds on the Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP), which was completed in March 2024 and identified high-priority, implementation-ready strategies through greenhouse gas inventories and technical working groups. The January 2025 meeting brought together stakeholders to refine these strategies, integrating solutions across waste, transportation, energy, and agriculture/forestry. Through discussions and real-life success stories, participants explored how a coordinated regional approach can accelerate climate action across West Michigan.

As the CCAP continues to take shape, this collaborative effort will help quantify the impact of proposed measures and ensure alignment with state, regional, and local climate goals.
