
Dan Engling, M.S., CSP, CIH
Vice President, Health and Industrial Hygiene Services
Mr. Engling is a comprehensive practitioner of the industrial health and safety profession. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), and holds a B.S. in Public Health from the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis and a M.S. degree in Occupational Safety Management from Indiana State University. Mr. Engling is also a certified ISO 45001 Lead Auditor for Health and Safety Management Systems.
As Vice President of Safety and Industrial Health Services for KERAMIDA, Mr. Engling helps to design and deliver strategic health and safety plans and services adapted to wide and varied applications with a focus on worker protection and safety. He works directly with health and safety managers to ensure they have clear guidance by providing support and developing H&S systems to ensure they achieve set goals. He assures that specialized training is provided by developing, modifying, and implementing training programs as required. Since the COVID-19 Pandemic crisis, Mr. Engling has assisted clients with Re-Opening policy drafting and building disinfection and verification testing services. His clients for drafting Re-Opening policies have included Simon Property Group, the largest shopping mall operator in the U.S., for which he drafted the Re-Opening policy for all their malls nationwide.
Mr. Engling has conducted a substantial number of air quality and industrial hygiene investigations in a wide variety of industrial and commercial spaces, from foundries to pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities to federal government offices. These investigations have focused on determining the level of exposure, as well as identifying control measures to reduce that exposure. Additionally, Mr. Engling has extensive academic and field experience with data analysis, air sample collection, data logging, and interpretation within laboratories. He has performed sample collection and utilized direct-reading particulate instrumentation at hundreds of foundries and manufacturing facilities on projects related to respirable silica exposure.
Mr. Engling has excellent communication skills and has received volumes of commendations from clients on his skills as a trainer. Additionally, Mr. Engling provides H&S auditing services. His superb knowledge of H&S regulations and best practices and his keen observational skills allow him to efficiently conduct compliance audits. Mr. Engling also brings a high degree of mechanical aptitude and expertise in machine safety.
