Process Safety Management and Homeland Security

Process Safety Management (PSM) is a systematic, investigative tool, used to prevent the release of any material defined as a "highly hazardous chemical" by OSHA.

PSM is a part of the wide variety of compliance services offered by KERAMIDA, Inc. within our Security, Health and Safety Division. Our experienced PSM team is able to assist our clients with the task of evaluating details and compliance factors of processes which are covered under the OSHA PSM standard found in 29 CFR 1910.119. Included in our offerings are PSM audits, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Process Safety Information (PSI), engineering support, and any other facet of the requirements found in the 14 elements of PSM. These 14 elements are focused on distinct requirements of industrial process safety in the presence of defined qualities and quantities of chemicals. KERAMIDA serves its PSM clients through years of experience and exposure to diverse applications of industrial safety.

Many characteristics of the processes, which qualify to be covered under the PSM standard, are shared by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requirements. Frequently, facilities incorporate process features that are subject to both of these requirements. KERAMIDA serves clients under both standards in their compliance needs, whether they are mutually exclusive or interconnected. KERAMIDA can assist in DHS compliance through Top Screens, Security Vulnerability Assessments (SVA), Site Security Plans (SSP) and virtually any other aspect of the regulation.

If you want more information on the applicability of these federal requirements at your facility please contact Trent Blake, Director of Health, Safety & Security Services at tblake@keramida.com.
