How long have you been with KERAMIDA?
I have been with KERAMIDA since 1993. I chose to work for KERAMIDA because I wanted to see a wide variety of manufacturing, pollution control, and geographic areas. My career has turned out to be exactly what I was looking for.
What do you love about this line of work?
Over the course of almost 30 years, I have visited 400-500 different operations worldwide. I have traveled as far as Abu Dhabi and I have advised local, family-owned businesses in my back yard, so to speak. I have seen everything being made from SPAM to space satellites.
What continues to drive your passion for environmental work?
I love learning how things are made and how it impacts the environment.
What do you think it will take for the world to address its environmental issues?
The political will at the global level is a hurdle I have no wise answers for. But… in terms of individuals, let’s start with the acknowledgment that “my” actions do have an impact at a global level. With that said, people will inevitably act in their own best financial interests. Any changes in behaviors will be driven by cost. Manufacturers need to keep creating more options for us humans to make the right choices, both financially and environmentally. Not all lower footprint options cost more.
What do you believe is the most meaningful/impactful aspect of your role?
Helping clients find opportunities for lower environmental footprint options in how they do business.
What are some of your hobbies outside of work?
I scuba dive in South Florida a couple of times a year if I’m lucky. Any free time in the month of May is consumed by silly IndyCar racing obsessions.
