EPA Seeks Public Comment on Proposed 2026 Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP)
/On Friday, December 13, 2024, the US EPA published the proposed 2026 National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP) for stormwater discharges from industrial activity. While the federal MSGP only directly impacts several states where EPA is the NPDES permitting authority, most other states rely on the EPA’s industrial stormwater permit as a guide for their own permitting programs. The changes proposed in the 2026 MSGP are likely to eventually make their way into industrial stormwater permitting programs across the nation. EPA is seeking public comment on the proposed NPDES MSGP for stormwater discharges from industrial activity until February 11, 2025. The proposed permit, fact sheet, and related documents are available for review.
Comments must be submitted by the deadline to be considered at www.regulations.gov under Docket ID EPA-HQ-OW-2024-0481.
