Steel Dynamics, Inc. is one of the largest domestic steel producers and metal recyclers in the United States. In 2022, Steel Dynamics became a founding member of the Global Steel Climate Council (GSCC), a global coalition of steel producers and stakeholders leading the industry’s decarbonization efforts. Following the release of the GSCC’s Steel Climate Standard, KERAMIDA became one of the world's first two companies to become a GSCC-approved certification body, providing third-party certification required by the Steel Climate Standard.
CASEI Verification & SBET Validation
In 2024, KERAMIDA verified Steel Dynamics’ base year Corporate Average Steel Emissions Intensity (CASEI) and validated its Science-Based Emissions Target (SBET), ensuring compliance with the Steel Climate Standard. As a result, Steel Dynamics became the first steel producer in the world to have its SBET officially approved by GSCC.

KERAMIDA provides annual third-party GHG verification for Steel Dynamics. We have been supporting Steel Dynamics since 2023 by conducting independent third-party verification of its Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for calendar year 2022. The objective of the verification is to enhance the accuracy and reliability of Steel Dynamics’ GHG data prior to public disclosure through CDP and its annual sustainability report. KERAMIDA continues to work with Steel Dynamics annually to verify its GHG emissions.
