Energy Audits for Buildings
Energy audits are used to identify and develop measures that will reduce the energy use and carbon footprint of buildings, reduce operating costs, and improve indoor environmental quality. KERAMIDA has engineers and green building professionals who are equipped to perform energy audits that meet the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) standards.
KERAMIDA creates unique project reports that can result in applicable and actionable reductions in the building’s carbon footprint, energy use, and operational costs, as well as improvements in a building’s indoor air quality.
LEED Certification Consulting
LEED is for all building types and all building phases, including new construction, major renovations, interiors, operations and maintenance, and core and shell. LEED projects focus on six main categories:
Location and Transportation focuses on compact development, alternative transportation, and connection with amenities, such as restaurants and parks.
Sustainable Sites highlights restoring project site elements, integrating the site with local and regional ecosystems, and preserving the biodiversity that natural systems rely on.
Water Efficiency addresses water indoor use, outdoor use, specialized uses, and metering.
Energy and Atmosphere addresses energy use reduction, energy-efficient design strategies, and renewable energy sources.
Materials and Resources focuses on minimizing the embodied energy and other impacts associated with the extraction, processing, transport, maintenance, and disposal of building materials.
Indoor Environmental Quality highlights building air quality, lighting quality, daylighting, acoustic design, and indoor environment control.
KERAMIDA is a USGBC Member and has professionals who hold LEED AP BD+C and LEED Green Associate certifications. Our team of experts has the knowledge and experience to ensure projects can meet and exceed LEED building standards.
Green and Zero Energy Building Code Compliance
KERAMIDA’s professionals understand the complexities of green and zero-energy construction. Our experts can help ensure projects meet the most recent building code standards. From improving energy efficiency and water conservation to recommending eco-friendly materials and enhancing indoor air quality, we can help ensure implementation and compliance with state and local green and zero energy building codes.
Featured Projects:
KERAMIDA supports BOND, a full-service construction management firm, with its decarbonization efforts through a materiality assessment and GHG inventory, production of BOND’s inaugural Sustainability Report, inclusive of drafting content and design, GHG reduction strategies, feasibility assessment of GHG reduction strategies, and GHG reduction goals and strategy.
KERAMIDA provides ongoing Climate and ESG consulting support to a leading private equity firm that targets infrastructure and real estate investments and has approximately $40 billion in assets under management. We help the Client’s portfolio companies to develop and implement their Climate Transition Plans and Science Based Targets.
KERAMIDA was hired by a Confidential Client to conduct a full life cycle analysis of a new and innovative type of exterior building cladding that was being developed to make buildings more energy-efficient. The new exterior building cladding being analyzed had the advantage over conventional building cladding by providing more insulation, while at the same time using more sustainable raw materials in its production.
KERAMIDA completed a carbon footprint for a leading global flooring manufacturer Client. The carbon footprint included Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions for all their domestic and international office space and warehouses, and two of their factories in China. KERAMIDA conducted a statistical analysis to determine sources or locations that are major contributors to the total carbon footprint and provided further analysis to determine methods for GHG reductions.
KERAMIDA has been supporting Masonite, one of the leading U.S. manufacturers of interior and exterior doors for residential and architectural use, in the Company’s sustainability journey since 2021. Our tasks have included conducting a Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions inventory, providing GHG reduction strategies, performing climate risks assessments, and assisting in corporate sustainability reporting and CDP disclosure support.
KERAMIDA worked with the Engineering Department of the City of Mansfield, Ohio to develop an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy (EECS), formalizing its goals of cutting municipal energy costs, reducing greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), and educating its employees and the community about energy conservation best practices.
KERAMIDA conceived of an innovative and effective pilot program for neighborhood-scale energy efficiency retrofits of structures and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reduction. KERAMIDA developed the project concept and structure, formed the core partners group necessary to confirm commitments and identify leveraged funds, and completed all aspects of the project scope details, budget requirements, and timeline.
KERAMIDA provided policy development services to the City of New Albany, Indiana for energy and GHG reductions related to a Federal Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG). Grant funds were directed toward developing an Energy Management System focused on maximizing cost-savings and minimizing GHG emissions associated with the City operations’ energy use, including electricity, natural gas, and fuel (Phase 1) and to develop and implement a pilot Energy Audit Program (Phase 2).
