KERAMIDA has been advising Trinity Renewables Technology on the applicability of the HyperPhilic Process to municipal waste conversion to energy; on the overall role of this technology to a circular economy and to GHG emissions reduction strategies; on applicable municipal waste generation rates; and, on the permitting needs of the HyperPhilic Process Waste Conversion Plant.
KERAMIDA performed a study in 2005 for Indirect CO2 Emissions for a major European aluminum producer and developed a winning GHG emissions reduction strategy to successfully address the anticipated impact from the European Union’s CO2 regulations – Phase I (EU Emissions Trading Scheme Directive 2003/87/EC and resultant National Allocation Plans).
KERAMIDA performed a study of energy use in foundries and development of best practices for energy use reduction and GHG reduction by manufacturing processes for the U.S. Department of Energy. The objective of this pioneering work was to conduct an energy and facility analysis of the metal casting industry to determine the theoretical minimum, best practice, and actual energy usage for different metals and processes used in the metal casting industry.
Subaru of America, National Parks Conservation Association, and National Park Foundation teamed up to cut the amount of landfill waste produced by national parks as part of the “Don’t Feed the Landfills Initiative.” Subaru engaged KERAMIDA's sustainability experts to conduct Waste Characterization Studies at Denali National Park, Grand Teton National Park, and Yosemite National Park.
KERAMIDA was retained by Algaewheel to assist in gaining regulatory approval for Algaewheel’s patented process of treating wastewater with algae for accomplishing two important goals: Treat wastewater with significantly less energy requirements than current technologies, offering significant cost reduction and CO2 credit opportunities; and generate biofuels from the algae generated.
KERAMIDA is currently working with Lamons, one of the largest gasket, bolt and hose assembly manufacturers in the world, to develop an Environmental Footprint Reduction Program. Our professionals conducted an Environmental Footprint Baseline Assessment to evaluate energy use, water use and waste generation.
KERAMIDA completed a carbon footprint for a leading global flooring manufacturer Client. The carbon footprint included Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions for all their domestic and international office space and warehouses, and two of their factories in China. KERAMIDA conducted a statistical analysis to determine sources or locations that are major contributors to the total carbon footprint and provided further analysis to determine methods for GHG reductions.
KERAMIDA supports BOND, a full-service construction management firm, with its decarbonization efforts through a materiality assessment and GHG inventory, production of BOND’s inaugural Sustainability Report, inclusive of drafting content and design, GHG reduction strategies, feasibility assessment of GHG reduction strategies, and GHG reduction goals and strategy.
KERAMIDA provides ongoing Climate and ESG consulting support to a leading private equity firm that targets infrastructure and real estate investments and has approximately $40 billion in assets under management. We help the Client’s portfolio companies to develop and implement their Climate Transition Plans and Science Based Targets.
VGrid Energy Systems (VGrid) is a mobile, scalable gasifier that converts waste biomass to biochar and electricity. KERAMIDA conducted a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of VGrid’s biochar gasifier. This technology converts waste biomass (i.e., pistachio shells) to biochar (a beneficial product) and electricity.
KERAMIDA has been supporting Masonite, one of the leading U.S. manufacturers of interior and exterior doors for residential and architectural use, in the Company’s sustainability journey since 2021. Our tasks have included conducting a Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions inventory, providing GHG reduction strategies, performing climate risks assessments, and assisting in corporate sustainability reporting and CDP disclosure support.
KERAMIDA calculated the GHG footprint of a cutting-edge, medical waste shredder and disinfection system for medical waste management. The GHG footprint was subsequently compared to traditional methods of medical waste treatment such as incineration, autoclaving, microwaving, and chemical treatment options.
KERAMIDA used the LFGcost-Web Model, created by the U.S. EPA Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP), to model landfill methane gas generation and payback of multiple methane use options, including boiler retrofit, standard reciprocating engine generator (RICE), microturbine generator, and small RICE.
